This article presumes you regularly import your student data from another database, as most schools do. If instead, like the conservatoriums, you enter all your students directly into Music Monitor, see the article to Add Student and Link to Debtor.
If you regularly import students from your school database, but this time you want to add one directly into Music Monitor, it can generally only be for one of two reasons:
- You want to use that student record immediately and not wait until they are imported in the regular process (e.g. setting up enrolments in advance for next year's students).
- The student is not part of the regular student body and will not be imported as part of the regular process (e.g. a staff member is taking music lessons).
Add a New Student
In the Students file, select the green + button in the top right.
Enter the details into the form that comes up.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- If this student will be imported again later from your school database, you must use the same Student ID as they have in the school database.
- If this student is not in the school database, you must select Yes under External Student. This ensures that the import script overlooks them and doesn't try to correct for the fact that they don't match an existing school student.
- If this is a future student, who will be imported later BUT DOES NOT YET exist in the school database, you must select Yes under External Student. Later, when they are entered into the school database, you must correct their Student ID to the one used in the school database, and change their External Student listing to No.
Salutation
This is what would follow "Dear" in a letter. So, for example, "Ms Curie".
If you enter something here, it will appear in template-generated letters. If nothing is entered, the letter will fill with something generic such as "Parents".
